Continued violence has made it difficult to expand my observations of the city. I will therefore summarize the information I have successfully gathered and list a few hypotheses.
First, the languages of the departed residents of this place appear, based on street signs and available literature, to be English, Greek and Latin. This reinforces my suspicion that Discedo is an alternate universe; however, there are two moons present, the larger of which shows fewer crater marks than our own and the smaller of which is too far to make out details with the naked eye. How is it that a world physically so different from ours - indicating extremely early divergence - could have developed along such similar lines at a later date? Is it possible that these languages were brought to Discedo by other abductees from alternate worlds more similar to ours?
Alternatively, it is possible that the smaller moon is a human artifact. This still does not explain the different cratering pattern, but does suggest a world with fewer deviances from our timeline.
The scientists' abilities remain unclear; however, I am beginning to suspect that they are more technologically based than equivalent to the abilities of a Composer or an Angel. Apart from unwillingly transporting sentient beings from alternate worlds, they appear to exert no controlling influence; nor have they set any apparent rules. I intend to obtain tools and take a closer look at both the communicator and, if I can obtain one, a removed chip. As examples of the scientists' technology, they should reveal the resources available to those individuals.
( public | audio/text transcription | Japanese )
Not to distract you guys from everything goin' on, but I hear there's a lab over at the school where a guy might pick up some tools. Anybody know who's runnin' it, and whether they'd mind me stoppin' by to borrow one or two?
If they're not for public use, I'd be just as happy with directions to the industrial district or any hardware shops this place might have.

Date: 2009-06-27 05:31 am (UTC)You can very well try. Or you could simply ask Mr. Lion if he would hand it over. That is doubtful though.

Date: 2009-06-27 05:38 am (UTC)Can't hurt to ask. After all, who knows what kind of useful information a bit of pokin' around might get?

Date: 2009-06-27 05:42 am (UTC)Of course that depends on who you are poking and for what.

Date: 2009-06-27 06:24 am (UTC)Is there a way to get rid of those refinery sigils he creates and what on earth is his reason for the trash heaps?

Date: 2009-06-27 06:33 am (UTC)Pray tell what is there to do that with? Though apparently the police force didn't take that suggestion kindly.
