Been nice an' quiet lately! I've gotta say, though, it's nice ta get an easy week ta round out the year. Even spotted a couple familiar treats myself! And I've still got a bit a mochi left if anybody wants it. Ask quick, I'm gonna eat it myself if you don't. [He grins.] Shame natto's not a New Year's food, ya know? I've been missin' it.

Wonder if our next one's gonna be tough ta make up for it? Well... they do say oni laugh when ya start talkin' about the future. Better not tempt any that might be hangin' around.

Instead a that, how about ya tell me what you're plannin' for the new year?

Sounds like we have some interestin' things goin' on.

The other day I talked to Josh to ask him about what being a Composer was. Mimi told me that's what he was and that's why they were fighting, but Josh...Well, long story short he spent a lot of time trying to convince me he was a bad person. I don't understand why.

When ya asked him if he was the Composer, huh? Well - something tells me that's mostly habit talkin'. He's been in the job for a long time, and most people who know what that means are fightin' him for it.

[Thoughtfully.] An' you might have noticed he's not real good at dealin' with people. He never had a lot of practice.

But he knows I'm not fighting him for it. I don't even really understand what it is, let alone want to take it from him. The only reason why I ever would do something like that would be if he asked me to. [He laughs a little, nervously.] And I doubt I'm qualified for the job.

[The pause that follows is a little more solemn.] Yeah. I think I upset him...

Yeah, I know. But he isn't a bad person. He just...wouldn't admit to it. He just...I dunno. He seemed upset that I kept saying that he wasn't a bad guy. Why does he do that?

If ya get mad at him an' stomp off, he gets that. If he tells ya all the horrible stuff an' you don't stomp off, then he doesn't hafta worry about you doin' it later. Win-win from his perspective, ya know?

But that's not a win-win! That's lonely and sad and I could never, never do that to him! But he just doesn't get it! It's so frustrating.

Well whatever. I'm not going anywhere. He can try to push me away as much as he wants. I'm not gonna leave him. Friends stick together and if I have to shove that down his throat to get him to believe me then I will.

[Sora is silent for a little while. He can't even imagine what it would be like to be alive that long, let alone have to watch over a whole bunch of people and decide if they lived or died. He suddenly feels very, very cold.] Oh Josh...
