It makes me wonder whether confronting the Animus for a way back is really the correct answer. They talk about the scientists as bein' lost, don't they? Escaped?
Sounds like they're more powerful than we are, but they don't have the key to this place. The scientists did, and either they got wiped out or they used it.
[Pausing] And don't quote me on this, Raven, it's speculation -- but if I had to guess, my thought would be that this place must take a lot of energy to maintain. Planes constricted, people and things falling in from other dimensions -- it's not a normal, stable kinda place. If I had the technology to put somethin' like this together, but not the power to maintain it, first thing I'd do with that tech is pull in somethin' powerful enough to use as a cornerstone.
All that... it makes me wonder if they used the Animus as their cornerstone, and that's what's trapping them here.
Sure seems like they're woven pretty tightly inta the fabric of this place.
